Canine Division

Nueces County Constable Department Precinct 4

This division has been in operation since 1995. Chief Deputy Robert Zenner is a certified canine handler and has been so since the division originated. Chief Deputy Zenner handles two narcotic detecting canines (Starsky and A.C.) which have placed in the Police Nationals in Murfreesboro, Tennessee 1997 and in Wichita Falls, Texas 1998. The canines have proven to be an essential factor in strengthening narcotic cases before they are filed. The picture above (left) is Chief Deputy Robert Zenner and his side kick Sgt. Starsky. The picture to the right is the department's canine truck. Chief Deputy Zenner is seen in the truck. This vehicle was made available to the department through a drug seizure that took place back in 1997. This canine truck has been equipped with a kennel, which will hold both canines. The dogs are cool in the summer thanks to a unique cooling system installed in the top of the kennel.

This picture (left) is narcotic detecting canine "Sgt. Starsky's" first felony drug bust. Thanks to Starsky, two eightballs of cocaine were recovered along with $1,100.00 in cash. Constable Sherwood (seen in middle) along with left to right: Deputy A.V. De La Garze, Deputy Andy Gonzalez, Deputy Matt Walker and Chief Deputy Robert Zenner were all participants in the drug bust.
